Vision
Policy

Texas A&M University is a unique and wonderful place built on rich traditions and the core values of Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Loyalty, Respect, and Selfless Service. As students, we benefit from the foundation provided by prior generations of Aggies. It is our responsibility to build on that progress so future generations of Aggies will be as fortunate as we have been.   As the university grows, so do the needs of our students. To meet these challenges, we can and should work with university leaders to identify problems and find solutions.

The Build with Ben campaign is about you and what we can do together to build upon existing strengths and expand opportunities for all current and future students.   The Aggie Experience is powerful, and it is shaping who we become and what we can accomplish in the future. If elected, I promise to work with you and for you to serve the best interests of all students and the university we love. The policy points below outline opportunities we can build on to improve the Aggie Experience.

  • Make the Howdy App more centralized and user-friendly by providing real-time updates of student services such as parking, library, dining facility availability, and Beutel Health Center wait times

  • Develop “Aggie Updates,” a free and voluntary system that students sign up for which reports changes to their daily experience, including alerts like bus route changes or road closures

  • Develop “Aggie Answers,” a portal that the student body, Student Government, and Administration can use to exchange information, positive or negative, about all campus programs and activities

Improve Student Technology- Technology is the fastest way to provide students with helpful information, connect them with the university, and save time. It is important that we have leading-edge technology at our fingertips to improve our experiences inside and outside the classroom. My proposed technology initiatives would:

Improve Student Experiences- When it comes to academics, students should never be forced to sit on the floor in a full class or graduate late due to a course being unavailable. It is also important that we improve student fee transparency and work with our campus food service provider, Chartwells, to address students’ dining-related frustrations. My proposed student services initiatives would:

Academics and Finance

  • Advocate for adequate classroom space and class offerings

  • Work to ensure fee transparency for students

Student Services

  • Work to ensure adequate bus coverage for the number of students on campus

  • Protect student parking spaces, including those for motor scooters and bikes

Dining

  • Simplify the student dining experience by increasing meal trade options on campus

  • Work with Chartwells to reduce the amount of expired meal funds students lose each semester

Improve Student Inclusion Initiatives- It is important that we understand the history of our university and embrace the progress it inspires. We can learn and benefit from the diversity of our student body. It is my goal to ensure that every student feels at home and enjoys their Aggie Experience. My proposed student inclusion initiatives would

  • Promote Texas A&M’s diversity education programs and increase student participation

  • Increase opportunities for first generation college students through participation in learning communities and leadership programs

  • Provide a stronger voice for underrepresented students and organizations

  • Increase number of Student Forum Discussions each semester to foster an ongoing dialogue
